Night Train Hurler Powell Tosses Masterpiece Thursday, July 16th , 2048 It wasn't easy but the Manistique Night Train made it look that way. Starter Gregg Powell shut out the Whitby Kingfishers despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Manistique Night Train cruised to victory, 7-0. Powell allowed only 1 hit and rang up 10 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." So far this year Powell has made 6 starts, tossed 35.1 innings, struck out 41 batters and walked 11. His record is 3-2 with a 3.82 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .169 batting average.
