Red-Hot Martinez Scorches Night Train Saturday, May 22nd , 2049 It was a hits blitz for Régis Martinez at Sacred Grounds today. The St. Catharines Saints right fielder tore into the Manistique Night Train for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but it wasn't enough to win the game. The Night Train swept past the Saints 8-5 to ruin Martinez's day. "We weren't locating our pitches well," St. Catharines manager explained after the game. "Once you get behind in the count, you have to make really good pitches, rather than pretty good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Getting 5 hits from Régis was nice but it wasn't enough." Régis Martinez hit a two-run home run off John Cannon in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Luis Sánchez in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This year Martinez has socked 29 hits in 78 at-bats for a .372 average with 7 home runs. He is getting on base at a .490 pace and his totals also include 18 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
