SL2 Selects Williams August's Top Starter Tuesday, September 1st , 2048 Ray Williams left little doubt in the minds of Sub League 2 officials that he should be named August's Pitcher of the Month for his outstanding performance. "I wasn't always confident at the start of a game," said Williams. "Sometimes it's hard to get into the flow -- the calls aren't going your way or you're trying to spot your pitches too much. You just have to relax and use what you've been taught all your life -- get back to basics -- good mechanics, control, location, keep the ball down." The 23-year-old tossed 26 innings of quality baseball -- going 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA and 27 strikeouts. A check of his career stats reveals Williams has chalked up 9 wins and 7 losses with 146 strikeouts and a 3.68 ERA. Opposing teams have put up a .230 batting average against him. |
