Detroit Shuts Out Duluth Behind Baxter, 8-0 Friday, September 4th , 2048 Ralph Baxter shut down the Duluth Sea Gulls today, blanking them 8-0 on 2 hits, ringing up 7 strikeouts and allowing no walks. The Detroit Thunderbirds pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on. "I don't know if I was getting any stronger," Baxter said after the game. "I feel like my mechanics were getting better. I was able to make some adjustments and get a little more comfortable out there." In 28 starts this year Baxter has crafted a 12-9 record and a 2.52 ERA.
