Thunderbirds Lose to Waveriders, 2-0
|
The Owen Sound Waveriders beat the Detroit Thunderbirds, 2-0. Owen Sound pitcher and Toronto, Canada, native Marc Rowsell led the way. Gary Long was credited with the save for Owen Sound, his 1st of the season. The Thunderbirds, now 6-10, continue their inauspicious start.
The outcome was still in doubt in the top of the ninth inning. With the bases loaded and Detroit trailing 2-0, Gary Long needed to get a big out. On a 1-1 fastball, Stan Gillis, who is rated as the 21st best prospect by BNN, flied out, putting the kibosh on a potential rally.
