A good performance from second baseman Larry Laporte helped the Duluth Sea Gulls defeat the Detroit Thunderbirds, 5-3. Laporte went 3 for 3 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Sea Gulls. Francisco Pérez picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 9. On the season, he is now 3-4. Lawrence Green nailed down his 2nd save.

Duluth third baseman Joseph Blondel contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a cutter into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 28th hit of the season and put the Sea Gulls ahead, 4-2.

Laporte told a Duluth Observer reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

The Sea Gulls raised their record to 16-27.
