Maples Drop Vigilantes, 9-6
|
The Toronto Maples topped the Windsor Vigilantes by the score of 9-6, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman Paul Corrigan. Corrigan was 3 for 6 with 2 doubles, while scoring 3 for the Maples on the day. Toronto reliever Orlando Méndez picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. José Árias absorbed the loss. The victory makes Toronto 14-10.
Toronto used a clutch hit from Gerald Powers to get the win. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Maples ahead, 9-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Corrigan expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
