Loss to Caribou Extends Detroit Losing Streak
|
Thunder Bay Caribou starter Yakumo Hasegawa turned in an exceptional performance against the Detroit Thunderbirds at Caribou Field, resulting in a Thunder Bay win, 3-2. Hasegawa picked up the win for Thunder Bay, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Dustin Hennequin was credited with the save for Thunder Bay, his 2nd of the season.
The Caribou got a big at-bat from left fielder Jesse Pulsifer. For the game, Pulsifer was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Thunder Bay a 3-2 lead.
"That's baseball," said Detroit manager Michael Vallery. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
The win puts Thunder Bay at 11-8.
