The Hamilton Mounties got a superb performance from pitcher Pablo Ojeda, but the Thunder Bay Caribou still won the game, 3-2. Ojeda threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Robin Bates in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Wally Howard took the loss. The Mounties fall to 6-8 and continue to sputter in the early going.

Thunder Bay used a timely hit from Erik Pryor to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Caribou ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"Both teams played hard," said Thunder Bay manager Daniel Mays.
