Ralph Baxter was outstanding against Chicago. The right-hander, who finished 3rd in the USA in strikeouts with 163 last year, had a changeup that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Thunderbirds 4-2 win. Val Imbert got the save, the 3rd for him this season. Chicago falls to 6-5.

Baxter allowed no runs over 6 innings. He also racked up 9 strikeouts.

"Ralph is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Detroit manager Michael Vallery.
