Comets Hold Off Maples, 3-2
|
Kingston picked up a win at Comet Field, bumping off the Toronto Maples, 3-2. Pitcher Fernando Markert was a major reason the Comets emerged victorious. Ralph Lapthorne, credited with the save, is now 9 for 11 in save opportunities. Kingston now has a 3-game win streak.
Ramón Salazar was 1 for 3. He drove in 2 runs for Kingston. The 2047 CAN home run champion had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Robin Bates. It was his 50th RBI of the season.
"Every loss stings," said Toronto manager Linus Riverboat. "This one is no exception."
