Fans watched the Detroit Thunderbirds and the Toledo Neptunes fight to the finish.

The Toledo Neptunes got a superb performance from third baseman Matt James, but the Detroit Thunderbirds still won the game, 4-3. James went 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk. Didier Petit, credited with the save, is now 3 for 5 in save opportunities.

Detroit used a clutch hit from Paul Corrigan to get the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Corrigan told a Detroit News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

Detroit currently is in last place in the South of the Border at 40-56.
