Maples Take Down Caribou, 5-4
|
The Toronto Maples did just enough to secure a victory over the Thunder Bay Caribou, 5-4, at Caribou Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Ramón Méndez. The winner was Sergio Magana in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Al Pellerin took the loss. The win gives Toronto a season record of 45-41.
Toronto needed the clutch hitting of Brett Collins to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Maples on top, 5-4. For the game, Collins had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"This game tested our mettle," said Méndez.
