The Detroit Thunderbirds picked up a win at Thunderbirds Ballpark, knocking off the Chicago Architects, 2-1. Starting pitcher Andrew Martínez was a big reason why. Martínez went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 11 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-2. Val Imbert, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save.

The Thunderbirds got a big at-bat from second baseman Paul Corrigan. For the game, Corrigan was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 9th double of the season gave Detroit a 2-0 lead.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Martínez.

The Thunderbirds saw their record improve to 25-33.
