Comets Edge Caribou, 4-3
|
Thunder Bay first baseman Wade Hepburn had a good game, even if his team did not. The Caribou dropped a 4-3 decision to Kingston at Comet Field. Hepburn went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Matsusuke Yoshida. He tossed 68 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. Getting the save was John Brown, his 1st.
The Comets got a big at-bat from center fielder Esteban Chapa. For the game, Chapa was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Kingston a 3-2 lead.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Chapa told the Kingston Today.
The Comets now own a record of 19-26.
