Eagles Win, 7-6, at Detroit
|
The Milwaukee Eagles had to overcome a big game from Detroit center fielder Eric Guitton to leave Thunderbirds Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning 7-6. Guitton went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The win was credited to Joe Nauss in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Andrew Martínez took the loss. Earning his 1st save of the year was Manuel Rodríguez.
Milwaukee pinch hitter Joseph Blondel contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 32nd hit of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 7-5.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Detroit manager Michael Vallery. "But we decided not to take it."
The win gives Milwaukee a season record of 25-18.
