Caribou Edge Past Comets, 6-5
|
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Wade Hepburn, the Thunder Bay Caribou defeated the Kingston Comets, 6-5. Hepburn went 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Caribou. Thunder Bay reliever Bob Harris picked up the win, raising his record to 3-2. Quincy Cooper was tagged with the loss. Thunder Bay has a 3-game win streak, while Kingston has lost 3 in a row.
Hepburn had a game-changing double in the top of the tenth. On a 1-2 fastball from Quincy Cooper, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the Caribou a 6-5 lead. It was the 7th double of the year for Hepburn.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Thunder Bay manager Daniel Mays.
