Sea Gulls Squelch Thunderbirds Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Duluth Sea Gulls picked up a win at Sea Gulls Field, knocking off the Detroit Thunderbirds, 6-0. Starting pitcher Tom Williams was a big reason why. Williams picked up the win for Duluth, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The win moves Duluth to a record of 1-3.
The Sea Gulls got a big at-bat from second baseman Shane MacKinley. For the game, MacKinley was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Duluth a 2-0 lead.
"It's easier to pitch when you get run support," said Williams.
